Meet the Newest Member of the PRN for Families Team!
It is with great pleasure that PRN for Families welcomes the newest member of our clinical team,
Kelsey Morell, LMSW. Kelsey comes to PRN following the completion of her master’s degree from Columbia University School of Social Work. Kelsey’s prior clinical experiences include working with at-risk youth and families in the New York City Public School system; with psychiatric patients and their families at Bellevue Hospital of New York City; and with incarcerated youth within the juvenile justice system. Kelsey earned her B.A in Sociology with a minor in Education from Colorado College in 2012, where she also played lacrosse. She continues to make outdoor activity and exercise a priority in her life, and is a certified teacher and practitioner of yoga. Kelsey also enjoys traveling to immerse herself in other cultures.
“It is exciting to support the development of bright, talented, young professionals in our industry, ” said Charles Elias, PRN’s Executive Director. “Kelsey’s enthusiasm, energy, sharp inquisitiveness and strong desire to learn and grow as a clinician allow her to bring a unique perspective to our work with young people.”
Kelsey has recently relocated back to Colorado, and is working closely with Charles to support the case management process, as well as the mentor teams, located near our Lakewood office. Please join us in welcoming her to our team!
This is What Mentorship Can Look Like
PRN for Families believes that mentorship is all about the relationship. Our customized approach means that we seek out and hire mentors who are as unique as our clients, who meet the specific needs of each client, and who live and work in the communities where our clients live. We then provide ongoing training, support, supervision and guidance to those mentors, with the primary goal of having the mentor relationship develop into a meaningful, growth-filled, and productive relationship for the client as well as for the mentor.
This approach means that we can create experiences for our clients that meet their therapeutic needs as well as their life goals in unique and creative ways. For example, our client Nick (pictured above), had the opportunity to intern this summer as a member of the road and sound crew for the heavy metal band Westfield Massacre, who were on a national tour. Nick aspires to create and produce music professionally, and his mentor team includes members of the band, who are as committed to sobriety as they are to making music. With their support and guidance, Nick was able to have a first-hand learning experience of the music industry, while also being part of a community that gave him the tools to have fun and be part of the professional music environment in a safe and sober manner. These relationships are not limited to the tour, as Nick has been spending time with, learning from, and being guided by his mentor team for many months prior to this summer’s experience, as well as following the tour’s completion.
We are so proud of Nick’s accomplishments, both therapeutically and professionally, and give a big shout out to his mentor team: Tommy Vext, Doc Coyle, Philip Naslund, and Jamie Delerict, who–like all of PRN’s mentors–are an integral part of the support that PRN provides.

PRN for Families will be represented at the upcoming Independent Educational Consultant Association (IECA) conference in New Orleans next week by two members of our talented team: Jared Tonks, Family Consultant, and Mary Jo DeGrandi, Director of Outreach & Marketing. As always, we look forward to seeing friends and colleagues; to sharing information about PRN’s programs; and to learning about new developments with our consultant friends as well as with other therapeutic and academic programs. If you’ll be there as well, please stop by our table at the information swap and say hello! We’ll be handing out our gorgeous 2017 PRN for Families wall calendars, filled with stunning photographs of the beautiful mountains of Colorado, for which we gratefully credit Todd Caudle of Skyline Press (www.skylinepress.com). See you there!
